Some basics you may never have considered before you move into your first apartment include lamps, coffee tables, shower caddies, bath mats, a cutting board, a cork screw, and tools. Of course, this list is written for a general audience, so it’s entirely possible that you won’t actually need everything here. For example, if you don’t intend to ever have people over, you may not need a serving dish. That being said, consider how useful each item may be. You never may have considered a colander all that important before, but if you plan to eat macaroni and cheese (a staple for those who just moved out into their first apartment), it’s a pretty essential kitchen item.
